The IHL Standard v0.1: Design Principles

The first version of the IHL Secure Systems Standard is being organized around evidence, explicit ownership, minimal inherited risk, repeatable builds, maintainability, and honest status language. Requirements that are not yet implemented will remain labeled as targets rather than presented as guarantees.

Minimalism is not simply about image size. It is about reducing unknown ownership, unnecessary runtime tooling, unused dependencies, ambient permissions, and maintenance obligations. Smaller can be safer only when the resulting system remains supportable and observable.

A release should be more than a tag in a registry. The long-term model includes repeatable build inputs, traceable source, documented dependencies, software bills of materials, signing, controlled promotion, and evidence that an artifact can be rebuilt when the environment changes.

Indian Hill Labs exists to move ideas out of diagrams and into controlled, supportable systems. Research becomes useful when it changes a build standard, informs a product capability, improves an operational decision, or gives FoxTech a stronger foundation for customer delivery.
